Multi-cultural, multi-racial.

I worked in an inner-city health clinic. I had one person who reported to me who was a different race than myself.

I chose to resign rather than fire this person for incompetence,
insubordination, and inappropriate behavior.

Not because I am chicken but because without this job this person would be homeless.

It would have been just too much karma for me to handle.

As much as no 2 snow flakes are alike, as much as no 2 leaves are alike, as much as no 2 leaves falls from a tree in the same exact way, the uniqueness exists in everything and every where.

The similarity exists in that you can identify any mango whatever its shape by the form.feel and taste; or any apple or an orange whether it is sweet or sour or tasteless.

Every human being is also unique.
Diversity among human beings affects in a negative way because it is artificial and separates, not unites, causes wars not peace.
The skeleton, form, muscles the tissues, cells, etc.etc. are no different from person to person.
Infants and small children do not see diversity, nor the pups and other young.
Diversity is practiced, taught and transmitted from elders to infants etc. from person to person and from generation to generation - let alone by the 3 Ps- politicians, priests and the press(or media).

I come from the Indian subcontinent. Now , there is a growing divide between the various religious groups, particularly the Hindus and the Muslims.

The one thing that left an indelible mark in me was the fact that when I was a kid and was afflicted with polio....yes... polio... the western medicine had no answer for that. I would have been a cripple for life.

But , in the small town there was a muslim doctor, practising alternate medicine called Unani. he took me under his care and in 6 months he reversed the disease.

Today, as a Rorarian in my Rotary clubs I take active part in Polio Eradication in India and I always remember that Muslim doctor with gratitude. If others tell me about the cultural divide and problems it does not gel with me.

When I was a little girl, the city I lived in was totally Caucasian. Then because it was a city that made automobiles, many people moved there from the south mainly people of African-American heritage.

One day the mail person who came delivering mail was of African-American heritage. He said hello to us where we were playing on the lawn as he delivered the mail by the front door. One of us, I don't remember who, asked him his name. He told us it was Hank. We told him our names.

After that he would say hi to us by name whenever we were outside. Sometimes the neighborhood kids would follow him to the end of the block pretending they were delivering mail with him.

He was always very kind and tolerant of the kids. I never realized how his attitude affected my own until years later when I overheard a group saying terrible prejudicial things about African-Americans. I earned a few enemies that day, but I hope Hank would have smiled if he had known...

Keep things too pedigree and it will lead to madness. So the ultimate diversity is international, inter-racial marriage.

More than 30% of my church have East-West marriages. While others expect their wife to be the same as their mum, my wife can still suprise me - she still has that mysterious factor (25th wedding anniversay next year)
