No, I don't thing there will ever be a shortage on lyrics or beats - though as a result we will probably be forced to listen to an insane amount of unoriginal teeny pop lyrics in the years to come. Most musicians today don't even write their own material - how origingal can it be - ya know? The more uncomercialized bands that get no radio play is where you can find music at its finest and most original.

It seems that all or almost all music is recycled from the past. If there is originality in any of today's music it may be unpleasant to listen to. Melody is sacrificed for the sake of originality.

i think that there are only a few bands that have originality, like Green Day, Augustana, Avenged Sevenfold etc. but i think that eventually people will have to "steal" another artist's beat and change it a bit to make it sound like their own....some already do that. lol
