For me, it happened around 40, at least started then, and lasted for about 5 years, sad to say. It was not a great time in my life. I lost my Mother and Dad to death, my wife to divorce, and a job that I had worked at for 21 years. At about 45 , I began to get my life back together, and move on. Since then, my life has been much better though. I tell you this because I want you to know....there IS life after a "midlife crisis"! Most everyone does go through them, yes, but "through" is the keyword. You don't stay there forever!! Good Luck!!

It's usually around 40. For women it is caused by the change of hormones and the empty nest syndrome. For men the causes are more superficial. At this stage of their lives they start wondering what life is all about. They realised they've had their chances and many are not satified of what they'd accomplished. They regret many things, especially what they've missed! And they absolutely dread growing old. That's why so many of them start behaving ridiculous, looking for younger women. Fortunately not all people go through midlife crises. Those who are happy with their lives and especially those with a high self-esteem normally doesn't go through a crisis.

At least the vast majority must go through them. I'm the last person I thought it would happen to but guess what! Maybe it is just the Divine's way of making us go to a new level.

Sadly no fixed period on it - everyone has some kind of a crisis period (mid-life or otherwise!) as some stage or another...
