The reason has nothing to do with God. It is like blaming parents for children spoilt in bad company. We are divided of our own free will.

It is our own selfish nature which draws lines around ourselves perhaps with the intention of protection. But these same boundaries drawn around each of us also act as the dividing lines between ourselves. The division originates at the point where we differentiate between self and others, that is where selfishness begins.

May be YOU are an exception in a family that is united and close. The world over ,have n`t you seen brothers breaking up and families seperating? Imagine the atyour greatgrand father`s time this happened and the next generations would have moved further and further away. The fouth generation would never even remember the links.

If this is the case in the last , say , 200 years what would have happened in the last 5000 or 10000 years that we can go back to? We are physically divided and the "one God " that we all started with have multiplied to suit the various groups.

The family tree is long forgotten and we are cutting the very roots of the tree!

The physical reality that we perceive to be the only true reality, opens the door to the notion that man can and should advise the Creator on some changes that need to take place in His creation. In other words, He didn't do such a good job. However, when you wake from a bad night dream, it no longer seems real to your consciousness. In life, similar to a dream, as we live, we become discontent, and seek to find out the truths of creation, and this is the change, or awakening from the human dream, where all things that seem to have needed improvement before have vanished. It is too bad it does not happen overnight.

Because the world we are living in is existing and ruled by constant laws of the opposites. That is why we are struggling with the meaning of good and bad, until we finally understand (at last!) that we don't really belong in this material world.
But in a higher world, where all these opposites do not exists anymore.
And until then, we all will stay divided.
There is no other solution!

You are assuming that there is one creator. I don't think that everyone believes that there is one creator for all of us.
