If I were to start a business, with a given location as the registered office, but also had an office at home that I actually did most of my work from - would this have any legal implications?

shouldn't be - the only thing is that if you have a home office that must be the only thing that room or space in your house can be used for or you won't be able to make a home office deduction on your income taxes

Most of the implications would be tax and insurance.

You need to be careful with keeping good records for taxes if you plan on claiming it as a deduction. If you own your home you should also consider checking your home owners insurance policy to see what it covers.

It shouldn't have as long as you done the majority of work at your primary office. However, I don't think in that situation you can claim any of the home office space on taxes or other home office related expenses. telephone bills, etc.
