Try the X-Factor website - people can sing and record their own versions of songs - you can also do it yourself. This will give you an idea of the favourite songs.

you could do a survey for friends and family and ask them what their favourites are, 'cos you don't wanna be singing songs where a) people don't know them b) don't like them etc.
