I don't believe in capital punishment as a rule, but in this case I have to make a grim exception. He tormented and tortured the people of Iraq for years and murdered and "disappeared" countless thousands of them. His insane son used the whole country for a playground and shooting gallery, and he just let him. If anyone in the world deserved to hang, Saddam does.
As an aside, they don't use gas chambers or needles in Iraq. The law of Iraq provides for hanging.

The Death Penalty is a crime against humanity. By killing Saddam and supporting it, you are no better than he is. I agree that he did do some horrible things, but I think a better punishment would be for him to rot in a cell and have the rest of his life to think about what he has done. He is old, he will die sooner or later. Why do we need to play God and make it sooner?

It won't resurrect the people he killed, but I guess he deserves some kind of punishment for all he's done. I think he was quite an arrogant man and used to living in luxury so I agree the humilliation of being in a cell should do for him...however if he is kept alive there is always the risk of someone trying to free him...

I'm glad they didn't honor his request to be shot to death. He said he was a soldier and deserved to die like one and wanted to be shot.
I think they should get medievel on him...hang drawn and quartered maybe?

That phycopath deserves to feel excruciating pain right before he bites the dust. Hopefully he soils himself before the hanging. That way he can die like the piece of shi* he is.

Well, I am not happy about his death, but I feel he should pay for his crimes by death.

I am glad that he is to be executed. Its a pity the c.i.a just did not go in there and assassinate him and then just maybe there would be no need for the current war.
