It depends - if the affair is with another teacher then no, but if it is with a student, then absolutely. Not only that but the teacher could also go to prison and be placed on the sex offenders register, and be barred from working with young people, depending on the age of the pupil at the time of intercourse.
They will be fired, and it is possible the pupil could be expelled, this happened in my school, as the school didn't want the girl relating details of the affair to other pupils and becoming a minor celebrity.

No. Teachers can date each other openly and with impunity. This is allowed at schools. Whether the teacher is committing adultery and having an affair is that teacher's personal business and is not within the scope of the school's authority. No they cannot be fired for this.

I shouldn't think so unless it is with a student or pupil. That is forbidden in most teaching contracts. Most of my teachers seemed to end up getting married or having affairs with each other- it's commonplace.

Depends if the school (or scholl system) has a policy stating it is forbidden. It should also explain what the consequence is. If there is no policy, I can't see how having an affair with a co-worker would be a legal reason to fire an employee.

Obviously if it was with a student, they can be fired and charged. If it was with another teacher, and it can be proven, then "maybe". This depends upon her contract, and if there is a "moral turpitude" clause. If she is unionized, it may become difficult. I would think that if her husband knows that the child is not his, she may be in jeopardy of getting "fired" from her marriage.

It is a disciplinary offence for teachers to have affairs with pupils. They are not, however, subject to disciplinary proceedings for having affairs with colleagues provided they carry on their intrigues away from school premises.

At my old school, affairs between teachers was rife, especially those teaching languages and maths.
Like all jobs, its OK as long as it doesn't affect the job.
