WHoa! This seems like a question from the 50s. Sure it can. For many elderly and shut ins, it has done that. And have you not heard young people being urged to step away from the TV and get out and play? TV can definitely do the duty of social interactions; whether or not it should have that burden put on it is another question.

I say it sounds like a 50s question, because now, more often, you hear this question posed about the net or video games. But dish TV, with hundreds of channels... I can see that being a pretty sweet desert island companion.

Television replace interaction between people, mmm .NO it cant however the WEB now thats a different story.

Yep. It allows people to stay in touch with the world without actually having to leave their homes to do it for real.

i can sit hours in front of the tv
and still be entertained....
i've seen ppl who r completely
cut of from the rest of the world
when it comes to watching tv...
they wouldn't have even heard a single
word u've been saying...
