because frankenstein is like a modern prometeus. Like the mythological hero dr Frankestein stole the divine fire ( i.e.the power to give life).
Also, Prometeus is also seen as the first man of science who introduced fire to man and hence heped to build human civilization. Similarly, Dr. Frankstenstein is seen as the scientist of the modern civilization. He used electricity, the new fire of the modern era ,to give life to his monster.

down to the symbolism of not messing around with things that can later get out of hand. Vic Frankenstein and Prometheus were warned off their trips. they went ahead anyway and both paid the price (fire is the creative force of the universe and a symbol for life itself. Prometheus messed with fire, so did vic)

In the sense that Victor Frankenstein also stole something that is supposed to be the preserve of the gods - ie the ability to create life.

By defying the gods Prometheus did something which brought his own downfall.
Perhaps we should pay heed to the old adage "don't play with fire".
