Paris is a great city. try getting somewhere to stay online, to get the best prices.4 days isn't long. I would suggest a cruise on the Seine, visit Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower, Montmartre{sacre coeur basilica, moulin rouge and cafe from Amelie = cafe les deux moulins}. The opera Garnier, musee d'Orsay is better than the louvre. Rue de Bac and the Madeleine churches. Place Vendome and the Champs Elysee are worth looking around. Gardens of Luxembourg. Get a map, an outline of the metro lines and stations and a guide book. I am afraid I cannot advise on where to eat, but almost anywhere should be nice in Paris. Have a ball.

Who are you going with? if you're going with your partner then you will love it, I think Paris is probably the most romantic city in the world at any time of the year, we have been there in the winter when it has been snowing and in the summer on those warm evenings just strolling along and listening to the musicians that seem to be on all the street corners.. If you're going with the family then there's lots for kids to do.. the museums are fun and there are enough sights in the Sacre Cur to keep the most morbid of teenagers happy for years.
Be warned though that most of the attractions require lots of climbing.. my legs ached for weeks after our first visit but you soon learn not to try and do all the tourist attraction and climb all the stairs in one day.
As someone else here mentioned the French or at least the Parisians are not that friendly, although if you can speak the language or at least try and speak to them in French then you will be amazed at the difference in service you get.. don't be shy just give it a go.
Most drinks cost about 5 euros, a coffee, a small beer, everything seems to be 5 euros.. so in can be quite expensive especially if you are going with kids however Taxis are very cheap.. about 10 Euros from one side of the city to the other.

I loved Paris, and to tell you the truth I didnt find it as expensive as everyone kept saying, you need to go and see the Sacre Cour, Moulin Rouge, Eiffel Tower, The Lourve etc etc, also on metro tickets just get a 4 day ticket it works out cheaper and if you get lost or miss a stop its not as much a big deal cos you can use it has much as you like.
Also some restaurants do a 3 course set menu which works out cheaper and you can have a choice of 3 starters, mains and desserts and its still great food.
I hope you have a great time.

See the Louvre and Sacre Coeur at Montmartre. Notre Dame is always packed with tourists, but if you get it at a quiet time it's beautiful.
Eiffel Tower is on most people's list, though I've never bothered.
Be aware that Parisian waiters are the rudest people on the planet. Try not to take it too personally when they treat you like sh*t!
And don't expect anyone to speak English. Even if they do speak English, most people in Paris will feign ignorance and insist on you speaking French.
Steer clear of bars on the main tourist drags like the Champs Elysees. You'll get charged £8 for a pint of lager.
On the plus side, you can get very good food in almost all bars/retaurants, even the cheap ones.
Why don't you go to Amsterdam instead? You'll get all the culture and sight seeing you want, plus really friendly, English-speaking locals.

We (my girlfriend and I ) had a three day break, and packed in most things; here is our itniery/plan from how i remembered it
Arrive: Friday Night at Gare Du Nord (from Eurostar), find hotel and look at loca area (it was in La Defence)
Staurday: Pop up 'Le Grand Arche', the big new one in la defence; then go into the city, (its fully possible to metro almost everywhere - probably a fairly good investment, 18 euros for a three day pass; www.ratp.fr) walk down the champs elsises - could do arch de triumph too, but was a bit horrible weather so diecided against it, had lunch (@ 'Quick' resturant, not wonderful)walk through to the Notre Damb, its about 2 miles, tops, but being paris there are plenty of diervisons, go into the Notre Damb and have a look aorund, then mill around that area, soemtimes some street performers and tourist tat, have a poke around other areas.
Sunday: Versalles Palice, get there early, because (expectailly in summer) the quess really mass up (and if you have under 18s with you they are free) aim to get there for 9.30, pick up lunch at a backery and eat it on the train, you will need a different ticket, ask at the station. have a look aorund, could spend ages there, but it saps life out fo you so we spent about 4hrs, then onto the musee du orsay, eating (salad) lunch on metro train to city. to musee du orsay and then to sacre coure, big white church to admire the view, hang around mont matre and then to the eifel tower in the evening night, its 14 euros to the top and a long wait for the lift.
On day three / sunday we went to the louvre (free entry for under 18s, as was orsay) could spend ages, then back to arch de triumph, becuase it was an OK day;took a walk down the siene for ages and then went back to hotel and hypermarket.
Day four - we went home
Have a great time on your holiday!

beautiful city, can be very cold at this time of year, beautiful at Christmas !! Can be expensive some cafes have three price lists, the most expensive being sitting outside !! Take a guided walking tour worth the cost as they take you to places you probably wouldn't have thought about. As you have 4 days don't try to do too much in one day plan what you want to see !! Enjoy !!

There is so much to see and do there and the tourist sites are all pretty close to one another. I went for 3 days with my best friend and by the end of it I was exhausted...Definitely make that trip to the Eiffel Tower and go right to the top! it is exhilirating!

Very, very expensive ! Your best deal would be to go on an " All inclusive guided trip " for your first visit so that you get all the important sights . It is easier and if you ever want to go back you know what you want to see again !
