Our Geography teacher was knocking off the chemistry teacher (both single) but stupidly, she got pregnant and so was suspended because it wasn't a good example to set the pupils of an all-girls' grammar school...

It depends on whether the teacher was having an affair with a colleague or a student and the policy of the school/college. Obviously, having an affair with a student while they are still attending a school/college is a big no no, even if the student is over 16. At the very least, the teacher would be disciplined for either role conflict or unprifessional behaviour, at worst the teacher would be either suspended or dismissed for serious professional misconduct. Of course, this wouldn't be a problem if the student is over 16 and has left the school or college, although some people would still frown upon it.

In terms of having an affair with a colleague, I think it would depend on the school policy (some schools and colleges, especially faith ones could be strongly against it because it would go against the principles of the faith and as many Christians preach against adultery and sex before marriage, the school could theoretically discipline/dismiss the teachers for failing to uphold principles of the faith promoted by the school/college) and if the affair interfered with the teaching of the teachers having an affair (in this case it could be regarded as conflict of interest and therefore a punsihable offence).

However, I've personally found that the colleagues having an affair scenerio seems to treated less seriously than the having an affair with a student scenerio because my English teacher (who was married) had an affair with a former language teacher (who taught and left my school before I started-admittedly, the affair could be the reason why she left, but I doubt it because my school went through a lot of changes both before, during and after I'd left it) and subsequently married her. Both were teaching at the school (the language teacher returned to teach my German class when I was in the 10th year) while I was there and nothing was said, except when we students were gossiping about it amongst ourselves, as you do! The other case I know about was when my former A-Level Psychology teacher married another Psychology teacher at the college (he was head of the department when this happened but not when I was a student) and again, nothing was said, except how nice it was for him to find someone (I found this out when I applied for a job as Psychology teacher at the college-as far as I'm aware both teachers were single).

This is a long-winded answer, but I hope it answers your question!

Depends on if they are found out. Teacher student relationships are frowned upon and if the student is under 16 the teacher will be charged with child abuse. If the relationship is between teachers, assume that both teachers are unmarried, it should be nobody's business but their own unless the school has particular rules of conduct which forbids it. If the lady is married you must give her the benefit of the doubt. The baby might be her husbands. However, the School Governors will not look kindly upon a school scandal, will try and hush it up and the teachers concerned will be asked to resign (one sooner than the other presumably).

Did the sex act happen at the school? There are no laws against having an affair (in the US, UK). Teachers usually have strong unions after the teacher has been teaching for more then three years called tenner. So chances are no your teacher won't be fired.

If the affair is between teacher and pupil then yes the teacher can be fired but if the relationship is between two teachers then no.

depends who they are having an affair with, if a pupil, then there are likely to face legal charges, if another teacher in the same school, then there may be problems, but if it's someone from outside, then it shouldn't be a problem

Sorry folks. But many of you are wrong. Teachers can't do anything they want on their own time. In fact, if a teacher goes to another town, gets drunk, and people from the community see him drunk, he can lose his jobs. I taught school law at the grad level for several years.

I think it all depends if the teacher was having sex with a student then most differently YES!!!!!! But if they are both teachers and werent having sex at school then why is it anyone's business what they do on their own free time.
