Oh my.... When a woman says no xmas present, she is probably really saying...let's see what he does. I don't envy you. It can be a no win situation...buy nothing and hurt her feeling. Buy the wrong thing and make her mad.

So here it is, as I see it.

You need to pick out that special,(not necessarily expensive, but meaningful gift. Your whole relationship is now at the point where you show how much you paid attention and how sensitive you are to her needs/interests etc.

You should know what she is passionate about by now. If you don't times a wasting. Buy something that has dep meaning to here. In addition to that one meaningful gift...perhaps even buy a picture frame and insert a pic of the two of you. In the corner, erhaps a ticket stub of some place the 2 of you went. Or get a copy of the menu from your favorite restaurant and and frame it....have her open the present over a bottle of wine...

The key here is to make her feel that you pay attention and that she really means a lot to you.

Good Luck!

Get her one anyway. If you give her one just because you want to see her smile you win.

Listen to what she says, watch her reaction when out the store. Suttle hints are always there, men just need to close our mouths long enough for our ears to work.

Been there, done that about the present. Ummmm, not good. Was cold outside, but colder inside I tell you.

Maybe, make her a nice coupon and put in in a card on the tree. Good for 1 day of shopping. You get the stuff, I get the bills. Then you make the trip together.

I feel sorry for ya. This is an example of something women do and no matter how you respond you will be wrong. If you get the gift she will be mad you got it...if you don't get the gift she will be mad you didn't. I really like Jen's answer about giving to a charity on her behalf! That is absolutely a win win situation because she can never get mad at you for being cheritable!

I say that to my husband too, and I mean it of course, but I feel ignored if he just takes that as an excuse not to get me a present on a special occasion. That is, of course, unless he turns it into a day to remember: ie take me out or cook a nice surprise dinner etc etc. anything to make me feel special.

When a woman tells you that, she expects you to know what she wants, and to walk in the door with it (she wants to see how well you know her).
If you don't believe me buy a present (NO rings unless you want to get married) and hide it ... then walk in, just like she asked you too, with nothing but you.
If she don't complain she was telling the truth (she didn't want anything), If she does complain she was lying but you still got it covered give her the present.

It means she doesn't want to have to tell you wha to get and wants you to go through the process of really considering what she would like and surprising her with a gift. Unless she believes that you are not in a financial position to get her one then she is trying to take the burden off of your shoulders. There are many things one can do to make Christmas special.

Don't beleive it. All women want a present for Christmas. She is just trying to tell you how much she loves you, but go ahead an get her something nice. She will love you more for it.

Translation: I want you in my arms - and a really good surprise present - or I will cry and sulk and wonder why you didn't want to buy me a present!
