it says error can t partion drive / cant find drive. should i formatt the new disk first pls? Help.........!!!!!!!

When installing Windows it gathers alot of information/settings etc of the specific computer it is being installed on.You can't install Windows on a hard drive in one computer & then transfer the hard drive to another computer & expect it to work.
So the only way you are going to get Windows to work on the computer you want it to, is to do a new install of Windows on that computer which in your case will mean reformatting if the existing Windows on it is from an install on another computer.

I can give you a link that deals with hard drive problems.
Some RAM/hard drive problems can be easily fixed yourself by using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful. Try this site, you can get what is required.

use a win98 recovery disk, remove the partition and let the windows program do it for you.
