The "worst" accent I ever heard was at a place called Brewwood, near Coventry..In a sudden summer downpour we found ourselves seeking shelter in a small delightful pub..a few of the locals were all standing around the bar doing the same:waiting for the shower to pass. What was really frightening and charming to me was that we couldn't understand each other in conversation..it was all like gibberish..I'm Canadian and I suppose they were from the midlands...Interesting that we were both speaking english but really couldn't grasp what each other was saying..But I can't say that there is a worst accent..they're all charming...but this was Laughably funny.

The worst: Geordie - cos I can't understand it, and it made my mummy cry. She got a job as secretary to a Prison Governor, but she she also had to take dictation from the Principle Office, who was a Geordie. She came home from work in tears for three weeks until she figured out what he was saying - and she was a a multi-lingual secretary before I was born.
The best: Scouse. I was brought up posh, but Scouse is in my blood. Whenever I hear it I get a warm feeling of coming home. All the clichés 'Chestnuts roasting on an open fire,' the lot. And I drop into Scouse as soon as I get off the plane at John Lennon Airport. As a child I called the city Liddypool, and it's still my Liddypool after 34 years living abroad.

Mine the worst.... A mixture of North and South. Dropped vowels booooooring.
Next to mine the Aberdonian Accent it's atrocious.
Glaswegian the best ...love the lilt and the humour in the accent. Never sounds annoyed or angry. Even 'See you Jimmy' sounds funny.

The two worst ones have to be Lloyd Grossman and Catherine Zeta Jones. Horrendous.
Irish or Welsh are my favourites. I also love the accent of male Scandanavians when they're speaking English, esp. Danish.

I've just arrived to the UK and i find the Liverpool and Birmingham accents quite annoying. Others speak too fast i just can't get what they are saying, i have to say "pardon?excuse me? can u repeat that please......all the time. I like the posh London accent and i think the American accent is quite alright.

Gordie has got to be the worst (eg. Ant and Dec and quite alot of current English T.V. hosts) just sets my teeth on edge. Also agree about Lloyd Grossman.
I like most continental accents, very easy on the ear.

I know the Irish accent gets all the limelight, but I think the Welsh accent is totally underated, so is the Carribean accent(s).

the best is North East England, the worst is anyone who would try and imitate a North East accent.
ie. Kelly Brooke in School For Seduction - Julie Walters in Billy Elliot!

I've never heard one I disliked. I have an ability to imitate them once I've been around it for about a half hour. I love listening to all different kinds.
I think my favorite so far has been of a Swedish flatmate I had while overseas. Whenever he'd call home, I go hang out in his room to hear him on the phone. All that lilting was great.
