Hi if you dont want to spend aloit of money then go for the xbox because you can get the deal "4 for £20" and the have some good games in there. I wouldn't bother getting a ps2 if the child throws if of something then it will definately break if you throws an xbox it wont break there more long lastting

The x box is probably dearer for games but in my humble opinion you'd be better off buying junior scrabble, monster suduko or just good old snakes and ladders. If you want to get a computer type game then go for the leapster by leapfrog. Its still cool with spiderman and barbie etc but it's educational on the quiet-they think they're playing(and they are) but they're learning too. I've got two 7yr olds and they both still enjoy 'leapstering',they can take it anywhere cos its portable and you haven't got the worry of age appropriate violence either.

NEITHER! the child will either grow up to be a slob or one with very bad influence. don't expose kids to these kind of games at such an early age. remember that MOST ps2 and xbox games are meant for adults! like the other guy said, get the kid a football, bike or anything like that. it's healthy and may very well let the child develop an interest for sports, which is a good thing.

I'd say a ps2 coz you can get all the fun and easier games for it like Sonic Hedgehog and Rayman. I've got a 3 yr old brother who plays my ps2 and he loves it, as long as its in moderation and he loves the eye toy game too as its interactive and encourages co-ordination. I think young children are fine with video games as long as they are for shorter periods of time to avoid addiction. I've played video games since I was about 5 and I've never had any addiction problems and still spent loads of time outdoors doing the childhood things and enjoying the outdoor life. So def a ps2.

i wont really advice leting a kid such young age play ps2 or xbox, let him/her enjoy his/her childhood playing in the park or watching tv.
but if you really insist, then i would say PS2 since ps2 has more games for kiddies. xbox on the other hand have better graphics than ps2 but unfortunately, games are not that suitable for kids

Well...if you have to get them a games console i would recommend the ps2, because the have a wide range of fun and non violent games for the youngster to enjoy and educate themselves.

To answer to the question, Neither, get the the kid a Next-Generation console, like the Wii. But seriously, get the kid up for a baseball, basketball hoop or a football. You don't want your kid grow up and is overweight and fails gym class, right? Trust me, I know how it is.

Neither, still young and not "damaged" by computer games to use their imagination with proper toys, get young kinds a consol like those at that age and they will be "stressed" within a week.

wait for atleast 8+. otherwise you can be in trouble. long survey comes that, children who starts playing games less then 8 years are getting weak in their long time career. still you want to buy and if you think you can adjust then go for PS 2. but if you really want to buy go for PS 3 if not there soon it will be there. the best ever.
