For me it doesn't. Saddam may have been evil, but he was an evil man sitting on a huge oil reserve. God bless Iraq. There are other evil rulers on earth - in Burma, in Zimbabwe, you name them we have them, men who maim and destroy their own people in order to stay in power. Woe unto the countries who have only evil rulers and little else! My heart goes out to the millions who suffer from tyrants and subsequently from war-mongers.

Saddam's death sentence is irrelevant. The war was instigated against Iraq for a lie! This has not been resolved. Bush can joke about it now all he wants, but the fact remains firm; he lied to the world, and defied the U.N to start a war against Iraq, for personal reasons!!
All the subsequent justifications given were just damage control.
And now, throwing Saddam to the dogs, is a futile attempt to distract the public from the truth yet again.
He stated the WMD'S in Iraq were a direct threat to the U.S and that was the reason they had to invade. As he started to look more and more ridiculous for sticking to this excuse, he abruptly changed tack and said it was a war to liberate the oppressed Iraqi people, and the gullible masses of flag wavers swallowed it!
Then he said he was making the world a safer place by fighting terrorism over there instead of in the U.S
In fact he's been playing a constant shell game with the American public and the entire world. And now, finding himself bogged down in an ugly fight with no end in sight, what does he do? He takes a page out of the LBJ handbook, goes into denial mode and insists that America must stay the course.
Saddam? He's just one body!

For the general populace, probably. For those of us who have served, we have no angst, because we have seen what Saddam wrought, and were glad to stop him.

Sorry one man does not justify over 3000 dead American Soldiers and over half a million civillians. He actually had little to do with the war they caught him 2 years ago, they could have easily shot him accidently on purpose. He (Sadam) is a mere poster boy for the war. The war actually got worse after he was caught. Go figure.
