several butterfly species hbernate over winter and re-emerge in the spring to mate and lay their eggs.
In the US I believe the Monarch butterfly is a species which hibernates.
In the UK there are four species that do this. they are the Brimstone, the Comma, the Small Tortoiseshell and the Peacock butterfly.
I've inlcuded some links with more information below:-

a friend that mounts butterflies supprised me by saying yes .... but i am not sure if this was moths or a few isolated butterflies. The mmonarch butterfly rom North America is the longest living to my knowledge. Its adult cycle goes for 6 months and has been known to cross oceans.
PS. Just found this site for the Irish Peacock butterfly. it is said to hibernate

Butterflys are born of hibernation. Most butterflys don't live long, when they get tired they just die.

They make cocoons and toddlers on leaves in trees in the previous iciness and that they in many situations die a rapid time after that. bugs do only no longer stay long. They make plenty and a great number of toddlers. some like the Monarch Butterfly migrate to Canada or to Mexico and alter it up...

No. The life cycle of butterflies and moths goes from egg to caterpillar to chrysalis to adult. Adult butterflies and moths don't live very long. The other stages can survive the winter.
