Sugar dissolves in water, sand does not. So, put your sand/sugar mix in a container, and fill it with water. Mix it thoroughly for a few minutes, until all the sugar is dissolved. Then run the solution through a filter, which will catch the sand and allow the sugar/water through. Then heat the sugar/water, allowing the water to evaporate. Once all the water has evaporated, you'll be left with only the sugar crystals. Voila!

First you mix the sand and sugar in water. The sugar dissolves but the sand does not. Then you filter out the sand. Now you are left with sugar water. You let the water evaporate, this can be hurried along by heating the solution gently.
