so quick in trying to grow up? I was listening to this 13 year old girl talking on the phone when I switched over to give my 14 year old son the phone saying Mother F--ker & so on & was shocked. I asked her did she know what she sounded like talking like that? I caught my 10 year old cussing too. What is going on?

I was switching over to give my son back the phone when I herad the girl talking on 3 way I wasn't invading his privacy & as long as they live in my house I do check up on them in a respectful way to see what they are into. I also don't blame the media I blame people that they hear that kind of language from & them for repaeting it.

I hate to say this but kids learn by example. There is someone that they are close to that talks that way and may not even realize they are doing it. Perhaps grandpa or dad or maybe an older sibling... and then add the music lyrics of today.... and you have a kid thinking that the foul language is acceptable.
When I joined the army, I found that 10% of the soldiers did 90% of the cussing... and in time it rubbed off on others... so now 99% of the cussing is done by 90% of the soldiers... It's like a virus. Kids in contcat with that behavior will acquire that behavior.
Parents need to set the ground rules.... you can't control what they say outside but they have to know...it's not acceptable at home. Which also explains another part of the equation. It's so expensive to live these days so now moms and dads both have to work. This leaves kids with to much unsupervised time. And thats when they pick up bad traits too. Too much time with friends instead of family.
Parents need to reclaim the kids.... It's the liberals of this country that are afraid to put limits in school.... The govt doesn't allow prayer in school but does nothing about cussing. The govt allows freedom of speech and expression without addressing the negative behavior exhibited in Rap music.
If you remember George Crlin...he once did a comedy routine called "the 7 words you can't say on television". Well today you can say thse words.

Listening to mom and dad? maybe or some others they hang around with. Maybe they think it makes them more "grown up" I don't know. I have two teens that I'm associated with. They get caught swearing but, they've learned to correct themselves and now know they don't have to use this language to "act grown up" it's really a curse and makes them look stupid.
