Of course I'm referring to the former head of FEMA, whom Bush praised in the midst of the KATRINA hurricane disaster. As he stood in the midst of the greatest natural disaster to strike the American mainland, that is what Bush, as President of the United States, said. Any yet some people want to make an issue of a U.S. Senator who doesn't know how to tell a joke?

Not even Michael Brown. Notice how he is no longer in the Bush administration, soon to be followed by Rumsfeld.

This administration is a menace to America.

What did you expect the federal government to do during Katrina? Snap their fingers and make everything okay? I think given the circumstances the federal government did the best they could. Bush was telling "Brownie" that he was doing a good job moving assets to the scene.... which he did do a good job doing.

Kerry on the other hand has been bashing the military when he has thought he was among friends since '71. The comments made by kerry about the intelligence of the American people in general was not a joke and was not intended to be a joke. It's how he thinks. He's an elitist.

If Nagin would have used the buses the disaster wouldn't have hit so hard on a human level. If the governor of LA would have forced the evacuation like she was asked to do it wouldn't have been as bad as it was on a human level.

IF Louisiana would have used the federal money their Senator brought home earmarked for levy reconstruction to shore up the Levy's instead of building the pretty fountains and other wasteful projects the city wouldn't have been flooded so bad in the first place.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize we were still talking about things from a year ago.

But, as long as you want to...while FEMA's job performance was poor, a majority of the blame has to be laid at the feet of the state government. There were millions of dollars of federally supplied equipment that were unused because the governor and her administration were ill-prepared.

When people think it is the government's job to save them from their own choices, to protect them from bad ones, and give them money to make up for their own poor judgment, then blame the government for not doing these things as much as "they should" (according to the victim's expectations), it's time for me to say, "WE DON'T OWE THEM!"

Where do you think all that money comes from? US!

We're tired of people blaming the President (any President) for "not doing enough" of things THEY DON'T OWE IN THE FIRST PLACE!

As to Senator Kerry, his statement is not isolated, but a pattern of statements about soldiers and the military that have made clear his opinion, to which he is entitled. Being a Senator, and thus an elected representative of this government, I refuse to call him names, undermine him, or spread unfounded rumors about him, as this is sedition.

I do disagree with his opinion and am glad he apologized to the troops, though he did not owe them an apology (though President Bush and others are free to ask for one).

Enough with comparing "sins". Each should be held accountable and responsible for their own choices, seperately. Some of us are tired of "your representative is worse than my representative".

They are all OUR representatives unless you plan on undermining our government and methods of choosing representatives.

I've never seen such a mass of infantile behavior about NOT winning an election! From people on both sides of the aisle! I know it's happened before in our history, but goodness sake folks! Get your heads out of the sand and look at how the world views your behavior!

I'm talking to both parties!

Time for the patriots, those who dissent and those who support, those who protest and those who blog to speak up against the seditious behavior in this country while preserving our right to dissent and protest.

It's time for Republicans and Democrats to close ranks against the nonsense of people who think that unless THEY win the election, it's NOT THEIR representative.

That's how democracies (or governments based partially on democracy like our own) die.
