Somebody forgot to do the housework again.
Seriously though, it means good luck.
One Christmas morning, a poor woman, who could not afford decorations, found that spiders had covered her children's tree with their webs. When the morning sun shone on them, the webs turned to silver. An artificial spider and web are often included in the decorations on Ukrainian Christmas trees.

It is supposed to be good luck. There is an old Ukrainian legend about a family that was too poor to have a tree in the house. While they were sleeping, there were spiders who heard the family's prayers and they decorated the small tree outside the home with their webs, which appeared sparkly and gold in the morning dew when the sun rose.

No different then if it was christmas eve, remember in the bible , a spider was found in the castle, so I would guess that he just wants to stay warm and it means nothing more then that.
