Isn't your statement a bit puerile? Surely, you already know the answer to this question, but only wish to make a joke about the language of cricket. Frankly, they do have funny lingo. Like, what is a Silly Mid-off?...or LBW, Leg before wicket...fine but what if hits another part of the body...Scapula Before Wicket? Is that part of LBW? Or NBW. Nose Before Wicket!

Meaning

Sweep a woman off her feet with a romantic gesture.

Origin

Originally a cricketing term and only later applied to maidens meaning young women. In cricketing parlance 'bowling' is the delivery of the ball to the batsman. The name was adopted from the earlier game of bowls. Early forms of cricket employed underarm delivery of the ball along the ground, as in bowls. Staying with cricket, an over is six balls and a maiden is an over where the batsmen fails to score.

To bowl someone over means to surprise and overwhelm them. There don't appear to be any references to the use of that which pre-date cricket though. Bowling a maiden over seems to have started in cricket and then migrated in meaning later

Well the cricket expression is centuries old, and you are not the first one to try and make a joke out of it. However, many others have succeeded where you have failed.....
In response to ramin's post, of nose before wicket...Ask Ian Bell who ducked into a low one which hit him on the helmet directly in front and he was promptly given out LBW even though it hit him on the head.
