I'd like to tell you that my beliefs aren't really shaped by my being gay, but...let's just say that I DO identify as a gay male, but I also identify as queer. And I think that latter is the more important with regards to my beliefs. I believe that I have white privilige and that it gives me access to certain benefits which I have done nothing to deserve, and which are denied to other people. I believe that I have some male privilige, but that that has been compromised by my sexuality. I believe wholeheartedly that there are those in society who want me to cease to exist: be that by death, or by the next best thing: silence. I believe that these people have hefted some major influence in society, and I truly believe that I am a stronger person than people know, simply because I've made it this far. I believe that a change is in the wind. I believe that straight people shouldn't complain about any losses in their heterosexual privilige: they have a choice. I do not. I believe that straight people don't really have anything intelligent to say about the closet, or about outing because they have never and will never experience either of them, and these particular issues REQUIRE that experience to actually understand. I believe that the dispersion of Queer Nation was a great loss to this country and to the movement. I believe that, slowly, the spirit of Harry Hay, of Mattachine, of radial faeries, of stonewall, and of queer nation is coming back. And I believe that one way or another, some big changes are just around the corner.

I am filled with various belief systems, based on evidence and life experience. I am like any straight person, except maybe more sensitive and I prefer the company of other gay men.

My beliefs as a gay male...differ very little from the rest of the world...except who I am sexually attracted to.

Men instead of women. That's pretty much it. What else are you expecting?
