Armstrong subsequently held the position of Deputy Associate Administrator for Aeronautics, NASA Headquarters Office of Advanced Research and Technology, from 1970 to 1971. He resigned from NASA in 1971.

Neil Armstrong, the first child of Stephen Koenig Armstrong and Viola Louise Engel, who was born at 12:31 a.m. on August 5, 1930 in Wapakoneta, Ohio, is still alive now, 19:18 p.m. on November 5, 2006 in Jakarta, Indonesia (+7). He live in California now. Armstrong was played by Mark Wheeler in the 1995 film Apollo 13, by Jeffrey Nordling in the 1996 TV movie Apollo 11, and by Tony Goldwyn in the 1998 miniseries From the Earth to the Moon.
