i think for someone to be cured of greed they have to lose everything they possess and have accomplished in life and live in and on the very bare necessities until they realise how good they had it and how tough other ppl and families live their lives. and how selfish 1 person can be and want for everything and more.

Greed, or avarice, is when the individual or organisation puts the love of acquiring new items or money, above that of normal human relationships.
In his book The Corporation, Joel Bakan puts forward the suggestion that even if those responsible for corporate activities wanted to use their organisation's power in a purely altruistic manner, they are forbidden from doing so because by law their first duty is to maximise the shareholders' profit (or, as you have it, greed).
The only way this can change is that the nation-state redefines the relationship between itself and the corporation. At the moment it is a corporation's duty to be greedy.

There are many types of greed, not just eating more than your own body weight for breakfast. Some greed comes from insecurity. How much is enough? I think greed is a disease. Only dogs seem to share this trait with humans.

Greed cannot be cured. It's as simple as that. No one is ever satisfied with what they have. They will always want more. A poor person wants more so they can live a better life. A rich person wants more so they have a higher status in their circle. It doesn't matter if you a homeless, a multi-billionaire or what ever, every one is greedy.

King Midas was cured of this.
As with him, the only way is to convince the person that they will not be better off once the greed is satisfied.
This is not easy, without miracles

Try compelling the person in question to do something good for others. I think, if you can compel him (probably the hardest part) he will enjoy a whole new feeling! One, that he does not know.
The feeling of giving and not being selfish, helping someone!
Who knows it could overwhelm him! and, change his whole way of living and thinking!!!!!

This is an almost impossible task, as it is assumed by some people that the more you have of things, the better off you will be in your life. They have to discover for themselves that this is just not true.
