Oh yeah - but I'm glad I don't live in Iraq today.

I feel absolutely terrible for Saddam's victims and their survivors, but killing Saddam won't undo his evil deeds. Saddam is imprisoned and can't do further harm. Under these circumstances, I couldn't possibly feel pleased that a person is going to be hanged until dead.

Another problem is that his trial wasn't a good example of a democracy's justice system. For example, in the U.S., if a defendant's lawyers were repeatedly threatened and killed, there would probably be a mistrial. So in this sense, with the eyes of the world and especially this region upon America and its concept of government, I'll also be dismayed if there's an execution.

The trial was an absolute disgrace. When a judge tried to be fair to Saddam because any defendant is entitled to fairness, he was removed. At least three of the defence lawyers were murdered.

If he is hanged then the number of murders committed in the names of the US and the UK will increase by one more and increased violence will erupt in Iraq.

There is nothing here to be pleased at.

Not really, because it doesn't make up for what he did-no punishment ever could. but, there again, why should the taxpayer have to pay to keep him alive. He'd only be treated like a king if he was jailed. I'm just pleased that he didn't manage to stay hidden-he's so horribly devious, I'm surprised he got caught in the first place.

I cannot say I am pleased... only a saidist or someone not thinking it through fully would say they were "pleased" by the decision... but it is a necessary thing. "Put him behind bars he can't hurt anyone" no. He could be broken out, he could be "paroled for good behavior" No. Death is not a pleaurable thing, but it is sometimes a necessary thing.

The media says we should be pleased. It's run by people that must not like him. I believe everything I see on TV. Don't you?

No, I don't think anyone has the right to kill any living creature, even when that creature is vile and horrible.
And I believe with his death worst events will happen.

No. think it will make him a martyr. He should spend the rest of his life behind bars. Would hate his death to mean more deaths cos of him.
