I have a horstmann channelplus xl programmer. There are 3 sections: heating 1, heating 2, and hot water. Heating 1 and hot water are working fine, but the heating 2 section of the house is not warming up... why is this??? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, so I can get warm again.

by the way, i had tried bleeding them, but that was with the system on... now that i have bled them with the system off, it seems that they all have come on... but the question is whether they will stay on... my wife says that they have come on, and then stopped being warm after about 30 minutes... any input on this??

Hi!
Yeah, like some of the others, I believe your radiators needing bleeding.
However, no-one has told you that it is essential that you turn your system off before you start to bleed them. Also, you may need a radiator key, which you can buy from an good diy store.
Once you had bled them, turn the system back on and voila! you'll have lovely warm radiators!
Best of luck.

Sounds like you have a big house with heating zones. Each zone will have an electronic valve unit usually mounted near the boiler as each zone requires a flow direct from the boiler. A zone valve is a through valve with a plastic or metal head attached. Most likely to be a Honeywell valve with a metal head. On the end is a leaver that can be moved to the centre and lifted to lock in place, this will allow water to flow to that zone providing the other zone is calling for heat. IE turn wall thermostat up on the zone that is working. If this works then the synchronous motor in the valve head requires replacing. Motor £ 20 approx. mind the little screw if doing it yourself and turn the electric off. You can always test the motor with a meter before purchasing.

You have air in the pipes feeding the radiator. You should see a little screw at the end of the pipe leading into the rad. Give it a little turn to the left (counterclockwise). You should hear air escaping. Let it all out until you see a little spurt of water then close it.
Should work.

3 things will cause this problem and you have eliminate 1 of them,, so try this,,, do you have a direct water supply from your main water if so don't worry about the next thing I'm telling you,,, some older boilers don't have a direct water supply, and have to be filled manual, but it don't sound like this is your problem, if it starts warming ,,and then quits,,,, your problem sounds like the third thing ,,, your water pump is about to fell, and is losing its ability to pump up to the highest heaters, ,,you need to have the pump replaced,, hope this helps,,

I would say you have got a air block and if so you will need to bleed them.
