Politely excuse myself -- unless it was a good enough friend that I could say "Whoa, go brush your teeth, your breath smells something like 2-day-old roadkill!" Unless, of course, it was my boss or someone of equal import, in which case I guess I would just ride it out.

I don't allow people to get that close to my face when they speak with me that I would be affected by their breath. But if i did, I'd go with the polite exit...
