1. It's not paid work and sometimes you are not treated like the employees of that organization;
2. You can end up doing the uninteresting stuff employees aren't interested in and by the end of your volunteering time you might not have anything to show off or be proud off;
3. You have less free time and volunteering is rarely relaxing;

All these can be solved if you manage your volunteering well !

I volunteer, and the only negative aspect that I can think of is not being paid as opposed to getting a salary. If you don't really need the money, enjoy volunteering. It's very rewarding to know that you are making a difference.

Well call me selfish but a huge negative aspect of volunteering for me is not getting paid.

There are no negatives to Volunteering, you are helping others who are in need for the sake of society's overall balance and well being.

1) being too emotionally involved
2) some volunteers feel a vacum in their lives, so they volunteer to feel 'needed'.

That's less time you have to spend doing something more interesting.
