I just assume that everyone is lying to begin with...soooooo much easier than actually thinking they are telling the truth. Especially in this particular forum. Over time...you will begin to see or sense who is telling the truth and who is lying. Just be wary and cautious and realize that if someone is telling casual white lies...you sure can't trust them with anything resembling "serious."

No, not ever. I am so naive as to believe that everybody is telling the truth all the time, on the computer. Just like in real life.
And yes, there are authentication protocols for online communications, lots of them. When you logged in to Yahoo, your web browser and the Yahoo web page had a conversation, behind the scenes, and the web browser verified that it was actually talking to the Yahoo website. If the web browser had detected otherwise, you would have been notified.
This is a simplified example, but there are LOTS of authentication methods.

I know for me,there is no reason to lie,as no one knows who I am,and because of that,I myself find, that I can be truthful on subjects or issues, and are able to express myself more freely on here compared to some one who knows me in the flesh.Sometimes I do read some things, and I am like, that can't be for real, but some people just can't express themselves in way for every one to understand, which sometimes can come across as if some one is lying. At the end of the day we will never know whether people are telling the truth or lying/telling white lies,I like to give every one the benefit of the doubt, and answer with respect, unless I come across some one that I find is being funny or is dame right rude.

Sure. Fortunately, it doesn't really matter since the information collected here tends to be moot. Take this question, for example. Suppose I am lying, and I've really never gotten that feeling - then what? I think the idea here is to have fun.
PS I was telling the truth - I couldn't leave you hanging like that... ;)

People online (at least in yahoo answers) are more likely to be truthful since you do not know the person and more so your identity is also hidden. You are not going to hurt the person by being honest.

Yes all the time. Have you heard some of the questions that people ask on here? You have to wonder then are they serious?

I know they lie, There are some wierd questions that I feel peopl ask just to see what pleople reslpond with. like the guy who drinks his pee before he eats or the girl who goes out with her firends to eat and then goes outside in the parking lot to call them. And eats out there too.

I know for a fact that some of them are. I am now much more guarded about who I let into my life, nowadays. If you can't be straight up with me, I want nothing to do with you. (not you Falzalnz)
