Usually the issue with weight gain on the pill is that the hormones may be causing you to have more cravings, and if you are used to just eating when you feel hungry, you will give into the cravings unknowingly and probably gain weight.
Try and watch your eating habits a little closer and see if you stop gaining weight. If not, ask your doctor for a different brand and see if that helps.
I wouldn't stop using the pill over weight gain, you just need to find a brand that works for you.

Hello, I wanted to answer your question because I am 26 years old, and had been on birth control since I was 17. I just got off of the pill right after I got married. Now, I am just the opposite, I can't wait to get pregnant! I was concerned about being able to conceive because of the myths of being sterile from being on the pill for too long, but my OB/GYN assured me that I had nothing to worry about. So, in that aspect I would not worry about being on it for a couple years, or until you and your husband are ready. But, to answer your main question, no I don't believe from my experience that only a condom for a birth control method is a good idea. There can be so many if's with condoms alone. Just out of my small group of friends, the ones who just used condoms, 4 of them ended up pregnant unexpectedly. If you can make it through the weight gain, it will subside and it will be the best birth control method I believe for you and your husband. Hope I helped!

If you are gaining weight you should ask your doctor for a different brand, or lower dosage pill. Do not be afraid to ask your doctor anything. that's their job. it is possible to get pregnant immediately after stopping the pill. I know this because it happened to me after being on the pill for over 5 years. that doesn't necessarily mean that will happen to you. Condoms work, but using the pill along with it will have a higher safety percentage in preventing a pregnancy. If you don't want to get pregnant, I recommend the pill. If you don't like the one your doctor prescribed, let the doc know so he/she can find the brand right for you. I've tried a lot of different one: ortho-tricyclen(spelling?), Yasmin, to name a few. Just don't stop using it because you are gaining weight. There is always more options. I'm 26(27 in 3 days) am on the second month of "Trivora 28 days." I hope I helped give you some new ideas on this. good luck.

I completely understand you being worried, but keep in mind that there are other contraceptives other than birth control pills and condoms. You could also try gels or female condoms, and yes condoms alone are 99% effective. Besides, you could always use two forms or birth control. The thing with condoms is that once you have went without using them people don't like to go back to using them....but ask yourself would you rather use the condom or have and unexpected pregnancy? In any event, talk with your healthcare provider and until then be safe.

Twenty minutes isn't too long. You should be just fine. But just as a tip, I wouldn't use emergency birth control that much. You are going to ruin your liver, and plus using it too much can cause you to become too use to it, and it may not work. Use condoms all the time ( for STDS and pregnancy) and I would look into getting on a regular birth control method. Its cheaper and more smart than taking morning after pill all the time. Even then, use a condom!

Discuss your concerns with your doctor. She may be able to describe a different brand of pill that works better for you. Alternatively she may suggest a different birth control method. A combination of spermicide and condom might work, or a diaphragm or IUD. Take a look at all the options and do your research carefully.

You should check back with your medical provider that prescribed the pills for you and speak with them about your concerns. There are many different birth control methods (several types of pills, the patch, norplant, depo-provera/the shot, etc.) which may affect your weight differently or not at all (which would be ideal).

long term pils will increase the difficulty of concieving for some. And condoms will work just fine, as long as there is not a religious fanatic working in the condom factory who thinks women should all have 12 kids, and comes to work with a pin....

condoms are cosidered to be 99% effective, if you want 100 then abstain. As far as longtems effects possible cervical cancer, but as far as deminishing your chance of getting preg, not really it just takes about 6-12 monthes before you will get preg.

YOU MIGHT GET PREGNANT RIGHT AWAY, BUT THEY SAY THAT AFTER YOU STOP TAKING THE PILL, IT TAKES A WHILE FOR YOU TO GET PREGNANT. I WOULD SAY ( USE BOTH, THE PILL AND THE CONDOMS) GOOD LUCK
