If you're talking about a lens in the shape of a contact: distortion or "pincushioning" of the center of your field of vision. It increases the peripheral range somwhat.

if youre talking about with a microscope: severe limitation of view range, and the item you are focusing on has much sharper focus, and you can see details of its surface...

I tried the same as an experiment
I actually watched the hImalayas, to scale, from distance of 3 inches,
Wow, all i could see was white.
In effect my field of vision got so chocked that I cought cold,
Today I am a man of vision working in the fields,
people lovingly call them feilds of vision.
and who knows what effect my fields have on them

because the retina contracts and tries desperately to adjust to the level of magnification, which it cannot bear....therefore vision becomes blurred.
