When Hurricane Charley hit Florida 2 years ago, FEMA set up 551 trailers for those who lost homes. FEMA has extended the move out deadline twice to give the occupants more time to find a perminant residence. The final deadline is coming up quickly but there are still 41 occupied trailers. Some of the residents say they aren't going anywhere because they strongly believe that "the government can't just kick them out onto the street". There are a few who have two able bodied adults living together w/o kids who say they cannot find work that pays enough to afford rent. Do you believe that the government (i.e., tax payers) is responsible to support them?

I look at it this way.....If that stereotypically sort of people have been living in FEMA trailers for 2 years, then I can only imagine the condition they are in by now. They are worthless at this point, so let the losers keep them if it makes them happy. A few trailers is a pittance when compared to the amount of money we lose every single day of our tax paying lives. It's not worth my time, anger or frustration to fight it.

But to answer your question; NO, we the tax payers are NOT responsible to support them. And sadly enough, we have no rights to have them sterilized so they can't reproduce! Yet another generation of sap suckers is born and there's not a damned thing we can do about it. Whew....that felt GOOD! :)

A BIG NO ON THAT. Their just being lazy and want a free ride. Kick them out, look at the KATRINA VICTIMS, they had to do the same thing and lots of them never got a FEMA trailer.

Look at how much money has been spent, and in some cases wasted, rebuilding Iraq. The cost of maintaining those 41 trailers is nothing compared to what is being squandered in Iraq.

no. They are not entitled. They will suck at the tax payers teat until given the boot, and then they will sue you, me and the government, and cry poor-me. And the sad part is, they might just win their lawsuit.
