I always prefer to eat at establishments that offer a cuisine that I wouldn't or couldn't do myself. Otherwise, what's the point. I enjoy the creative, culinary challenges found at fine/gourmet restaurants with professional chefs, not big corporate restaurants that control every ingredient and process thereby saving money by serving boring safe foods and hiring unskilled uncaring employees.

The best thing is having a choice of lots of small family-owned places nearby. They have more reason to care if you're happy.
The worst thing is a place so big and so busy you can hardly find your server even when you're ready to pay and go home.

The best thing is the convenience and relaxation of having someone else prepare your food and do the clean-up.
The worst is the few choices of any kind of healthy food to order.

Best -- It's a nice break.
Worst -- Sit down at the counter and be waited on by a waiter instead of a waitress.
Make it better? -- Never put a waiter on counter.
