Honestly, I would prefer to go to a place that specializes in the type of food I want. However, my husband does a lot of driving for work, and some nights he just can't stand the thought of driving very far, so we go to a place like Friday's, or Applebee's where they have a large menu selection.

Luckily, we live in a fairly high income area, so there is a lot of development going on not too far away to service our community. We are getting a lot more specialty restaurants. You used to have to drive a good distance to get a good hunk of flame broiled cow flesh, but now we can get that, or freshmade pasta with yummy sauces, or delectable chinese food, or the fresh catch of the day (which is kind of a joke, as we are 800 miles from the Pacific coast), only 10 minutes away. I had a lovely steak with onions and mushrooms and heaps of fluffly garlic mashed potatoes last night, and it only took us about 10 minutes to get home. Lucky me!

Depends on what I'm in the mood for, but generally, it doesn't much matter as long as the food's halfway decent, so I'd go with the conveniently located.

It depends on if I am craving a particular food, like tacos.
Then I go where they have tacos even if it is not convenient.
I mostly like to go where there is a large variety of foods to choose from.
