The qualifying week is, unfortunately, 18-24 September: http://www.thepensionservice.gov.uk/winterfuel/ That's when you had to be aged 60.

Next year you should qualify.

I am not sure is you are a Military Vet or not, but regardless you can call the electric company or gas company (which ever you use for heating) and they will let you know if you qualify for any reduced or free rate...Good luck as the cold wind is a blowing!
