Most likely to be the divert er valve may just be stuck but usually requires replacing. On some valves it is possible to replace just the head.

Klamidia is nearest. If it is a problem that has only just started, the most probable cause will be the three way valve. If a plumber has changed the pump, you have certainly paid for unnecessary work. If either part is working the pump cannot be faulty. Would tend to get a new three port valve. It is possible to just buy the head, but, depending which make it is, i.e. Honeywell, some use a rubber ball to divert the water and this can sometimes stick, so it would pay to change the whole thing o be on the safe side.

Could be that the HW time overlaps the Htg time.
However electronic switches do go wrong, I have one that failed today, so check the timer. If you need to change it they are usually fixed to a wall bracket to which the wiring terminals and the time switch unplugs from it. A new one of the same type should then plug into he bracket.
Try to override the time switch to get the boiler going.Travis Perkins, a nation wide company or Pumb Center sell most types of timer. Get a replacement if you can and fit it. If it doesn't cure the fault then take it back for a refund. Try to keep packaging in tact.
If you do not feel happy with this, contact an ELECTRICIAN not a Plumber to look at the timer and the associated circuits.
Best of luck

You most probably have motorised valves in the system , these valves open and close when you select hot water only or central heating. Check for a faulty valve by switching on the heating and find the main central heating pipe and check that the valve is the same heat on both sides of the valve. If it is not, then this valve needs replacing. When you activate a motorised valve allow a few minutes for it to fully open.

If you set the HW selector to OFF and turn on the heating switch does the HW indicator come on as well ? If that is what you mean is happening it's likely that the programme selector on the rear of the programmer has been changed from fully pumped to gravity HW setting. What is the make and model of programmer?? Do you have a 3 port valve with/without mid - position or two zone valves? I cant see why the pump was replaced!!
Otherwise klamidia is probably correct.

Surely this is a fine set up because when you are heating your home you have hot water.
The reverse would be problematic having to heat your house to get hot water.
It could be deliberately set up this way and maybe you just haven't noticed before.
I would keep it as it is because your not wasting money you want a warm room and you get your water heated at the same time perfect

It sounds as though it could be a malfunction of a 3 way valve, the solenoids on these are prone to failure and maybe the valve is stuck halfway, you should be able to hear it operate, or you can override it manually with the lever on the side.
