Hi! i have a laptop with wireless broadband. I have Norton Internet Security installed, and at the moment the tick is green and all installed programmes are working correctly. But I have a stupid yellow triangle in my taskbar, flashing away and it pops up now and again saying I have a virus/trojan/worm and then a dodgy looking box appears inviting me to click on it to download some DiskCleaner and other dodgy named anti virus software. Its a Packard Bell popup, and i dont know how to get rid of it! It also says that my internet speed is reduced and my disk performance is lowered, and that people can access my bank details etc.
But when i did a Norton full disk scan it didnt pick up anything this morning! Whats going on?!!!!

Looks like you have spyware/ scumware on your computer.
Whatever you do don't click on it ,you maybe inviting even more junk into your machine .
Download ad-aware or spybot .Two free super anti spy cleaning programs then scan your computer.
I have Norton anti virus and both these programs installed on all 4 pc`s in the house and NEVER had any kind of spyware problem.
Good luck.

You have adware on your PC.

All of these are ones that I personally use and all are free.

I-Worm/Stration · BackDoor.Generic3.GBB and .GBC · Worm/Generic.FX · Exploit.WMF
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/...

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

Norton is useless when it comes to things like this.

You need Antivirus software and spyware scanning software. There are 2 free spyware scanners that I have used: Ad-Aware and Spybot. Both do a decent job but I have had better luck with Ad-Aware. If you run both of those and you still have some pop-ups or some kind of spyware hanging around, you can download a 60-day trial of Prevx1. It is great and fully functional for the 60 days. For a virus scanner, I would download the free version of AVG. It does a fine job. I think AVG also makes a spyware scanner, but I have never used it personally.

It sounds as if you have some serious spyware. I recommend you get a spyware and Ad aware program such as SpySweeper (has a two week trial period or buy it for $18.00)http://www.internetsecuritycorp.com/spysweeper.htm
Or SpyBot which is free unless you want to donate to them
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
If you use Spy Bot then you also want to download and run Lava Softs Ad Aware.

I myself use SpySweeper and it loads with my computer and stops harmful things immediately.
Also what you can do is check your start up and see what is there.and uncheck everything that you don't need to start everytime you turn your computer on or that you don't know what is.

Go to Bit defender on line scan it will give you a free scan & remove the problem.

I agree with most people that Norton is not very good - when i used it, it found trojan/virus but was unable to remove them.

Give up using Windows, and install Linux on your computer. Linux is immune to all viruses, malware, spyware and adware.

BE COOL - GET LINUX
