i am usualy willing to listen to what people have to say but when they ask me what i think i always turn them away. its not cause i want to be rude, it just i normaly dont have an opinion or i have an opinion that will make them feel worse.

eaxmple; a lass i know cheated on her boy friend whal he was at basic trainning and she came to me and explaned the whole thing and i found out she had slept with 7 other men in 3 months. she asked me what i thought and she was really ashamed and i told her the truth that if it was me she had cheated on i would cut ther throat.

example; my friend comes to talk to me about his father ie and when he asks me to say some think i just told him that i could not. i had nothing to say.

as you can see its much nicer if i turn them away.

I'd be more worried that you think cutting someone's throat is appropriate. If that's how you feel, please get help. And don't give your opinion to other people, it could mess them up, too.

Example #1 wasn't really looking for support she was looking for someone to tell her that what she did wasn't wrong, even though it was. When she told you about how she cheated on her boyfriend you put yourself in her boyfriends shoes, so to speak, and you felt his pain, and you gave an honest answer. You had such strong feelings you told her you would have cut her throat if it had been you she cheated on, not that you would actually do so, but you have the ability to feel empathy for others, and thus are able to experience the emotions of that person and respond accordingly. If someone is being wronged you feel their pain, and because you don't want to hurt or offend your friends when they are the ones in the wrong you now keep your opinion to yourself. I think it is harder to keep quiet, but a good thing to do if you don't want to hurt a friend. Unless they need to hear the truth to knock some sense into their heads. Every situation is different. I'm not sure what really happened with the second example, but you must have felt that not saying anything was the right course of action. The fact you're worried you might have done something wrong means you have a conscience. Bravo.

You should always give your true opinion if its too rough for them then they should not be asking in the first place the girl who cheated that much should have been told that it was wrong but being harsh just for harshs sake that's not right either so I guess when someone asks they get what they get its kind of a catch 22

Your first duty is to yourself. When you do not have the time to lend the supportive ear, say so, they will find another sympathetic ear. God works in mysterious ways!
Dont feel guilty. The priorities are your welfare, your family, your job- then if those are fulfilled and you still have some energy to spread around, share, by all means.

It is O.K. to have no opinion... It shoves your clean, non judgmental spirit..
