Tough as this is going to be...you're going to just have to leave her.
She's only 5 months old, and you're her whole life, she doesn't know anyone but you...remember, you carried her for 9 months too.
You might want to try letting your mom hold her while holding something that smells like you, a sweater, or a blanket, something you've either worn or familiar to your baby.
Take little trips away from your baby. An hour at first, then two, and so on and so forth, let her get used to someone else tending to her needs.

Babies are not silly...my daughter did the same to me at that age when I dropped her at day care as I went back to work part time...she would holler the place down and I felt so guilty leaving her...after 5 mins I rang the day care place and she had settled instantly as soon as I walked out the door...this happened just about every time I left her there...
Depending on how soon you plan on starting back to work perhaps ween her off you a bit...drop her at your mums and leave...dont make a fuss...just leave and come back in 10 mins...then the next day do the same thing...gradually increasing the time each time you drop her off...
She will be fine I assure you...dont let her bluff you though...remember who the mum is and lay down the rule with her from the start...letting her get her own way will only result in battles along the way with other things...
Hope this helps

Try visiting with mom for a few minutes each day and let ther baby get used to her. Maybe have mom give her her bottle while you are there. It may also help if mom came to your house to keep her at first..so she is not having to adjust to a new place and caregiver at the same time.

have you tried to leave a blanket with the baby with your smell? Is it just that she cries when you leave or does she cry continually while you are away? You need to build up the time you spend away from your baby. could you leave a blanket with your smell, get your mum to occupy her with a game of 'peek a boo' or something sneak out when she is not looking and see if that does the trick? it should get better with practice although I know it is heartbreaking for you

My daughter was like that, too. Do you have to go back to work? Or could you work at home, maybe by taking care of some extra kids or something? Try to cut corners and save money where you can so you don't have to go back to work. Your daughter will thank you for it.

Maybe that's a big clue that you should find some way to stay at home with her longer! That's pretty young to be left...
