What on earth can Mick Jagger or Barbara Streisand do for you if you buy a $1000 ticket ?
This is truly getting crazy because these people are loaded with money .
I have to budget myself just to keep gas in my car and entertainers are crying broke to justify high ticket prices .

Because there are too many people who are willing to pay that much.

Concert tickets are high now because touring and playing live is really the last way an artist can make some money... the prices are high because of all you Mo Fo's that buy a CD and burn 30 copies for your homies! Legendary artists charge and arm and a leg because the have earned it baby... you just have to pick and choose if you can't afford to see everybody. It costs a lot of money to fly around the world, have half a dozen 18 wheelers full of gear and equipment, tons of roadies, agents, producers, girlfriends... I have paid lots of money to see some great bands... I have never been disappointed yet... although seeing Cyndi Lauper back when I was in college... that came close! Good Luck, hopefully when you are able to bring in more dough the bands you like will still be touring...

I remember when Micheal Jackon's tickets were like $25 or somethign like that and I thought they were crazy!
I bought 2 tickets to see Shaggy and the Backstreet Boys in 2001. When on Backstreet Boy went into rehab...I lost like $168.
All I wanted to see was Shaggy, but he cancelled off their tour. I didn't want to see BSB.

The best ticket prices on earth are at the Choctaw Indian Fair in Choctaw Mississippi. $15 for the week. You get a bracelet and can go every night to the fair and the concert. And see real World Championship Stickball tourneyment too!

Second best prices are Memphis in May. You can see a variety of acts on several stages for like three nights for very little money!

That is crazy.. I wouldn't pay that much to spend a night with them alone. That's why you watch their concerts on the pc. I never paid more than 30- 35 bucks for a concert.

Yeah they must have big heads or something, they could play for free and still get a lot of royalties for past albums and stuff. That's one of the reasons I like punk, because even big bands won't charge you a crazy amount, and you can even meet them before or after the show half the time. I saw Rancid recently for $20, and they were hanging out taking pics with fans and stuff. They have even donated a night's profit to local bands or concert halls before! Cool guys.

Scalping was around when I was a teen in the 70's but not to the extent of the prices that we pay now. Now that we have the Internet, tickets sell out even faster. Another thing is that you can signup for band clubs, and you pay a fee for the year to get first shot at tickets. Yet another way that we are getting screwed. The first time I saw The Who (way back when) I paid $6 for my ticket. I saw The Who again in 2006 and I paid $285 for my ticket and that wasn't even from a scalper. To date, the highest I paid for a ticket was $750 to see Roger Waters in 2006 for the Dark Side of The Moon Tour. I was in the 3rd row and it was worth every damn penny and I would pay it again.

DON'T BUY, if everyone stopped buying the prices would go down, but people are like stupid sheep and will buy and buy because they think it is cool or something. So you deserve high ticket prices now and higher in the future, sheep get sheared.

They charge soo much because people will pay it. But then there are those that will wait for someone to post the video of the concert online and see the concert for free.

Because they have to be able to afford their mansions and private jets because they just can't afford that lifestyle if they only charge, say, 75.00 a ticket. All sarcasm aside, it is because there are actually people who are either rich or stupid enough to pay those prices. So they do it because they can.

do you think that they should lower the prices just because they are rich? If people are willing to pay those prices, they will charge those prices. It's not just concerts, try getting good tickets to an NFL game.

because of the internet......everyone is downloading the music for free, therefore they dont buy the albums, and they have to make the money somehow...but i went to ozzfest over the summer and i thought 75 bux for 14 hours of non stop metal was well worth it
