For cubic measure: L x W x H = CI / 231 = G
L = Length
W = Width
H = Height
CI = Cubic Inches (Volume)
G = Gallons
Measure the Length, Width, and Height in Inches.
231 Cubic Inches to one Gallon.
Convert Volume to Cubic Inches
Length x Width x Height = Cubic Inches / 231 = Gallons

For Right cylinder measure: Pi x r'2 x H = CI / 231 = G
Pi = 3.14159
r = radius (half of diameter) '2 = squared
H = Height (or length)
CI = Cubic Inches (Volume)
Convert Volume to Cubic Inches.
Pi x r squared x H = CI / 231 = gallons

wait until the tank is almost empty and then goto the gas station and fill it up. The gas pump will tell you how many gallons it put in and round it up.

you calculate the volume of the tank, usually cm cubed, and 1cm cubed = 1mL, so after you find the volume in cm cubed, change it to mL and then convert to Liters (1L = 1000 mL) then divide by 230 (I think) to get to GALLONS
you can ONLY do length x width x hight IS ITS A BOX!!!!!
if its not a box, the formula changes. add what shape it is to the question and i will get you that formula :-)
