I honestly do not believe in marriage. I believe that it is an unnatural thing to stay with someone "forever". But, I do believe that you can love someone for as long as you live, but I do not believe that getting married is really necessary.

Marriage is way over rated.

I understand what you are saying. Marriage is sort of a commitment and with that comes a bunch of legal priveliages. Do I believe that should happen? No. But, luckily I come from a country where common law marriages are common and accepted by the government as a marriage. You don't have to get the paper. You just have to live together for so long. I'm engaged right now. I'm commited to my partner already. Honestly, I don't even know why I'm bothering to get married except to make it easier on myself and my lover. I've got this psycho religious family you see, and hiding that we live together is such a pain in the butt. I couldn't do that for my whole life! Hahaha.

I agree somewhat. It takes alot to realize that you want someone forever. I was married for 17 years and thought it would be forever and it just didn't work out. Now I know I will never marry again. It's a shame because back in the day people married and married for life but they weren't always happy but then there are the ones that stay married, worked things out and remain happy. Things are different nowadays. And I agree that yes you can love someone for as long as you live but there are many people in one's life that you can love like that, family.

I was married once. When I stood in the church promising to be faithful for life, I meant it. Little did i know I married 2 ppl. One was the best husband ever, the other was violent and forced me to sleep with other ppl. After 13 years, I left.
I have been with my present partner for 11 years now and have no desire to marry. Not because I don't love him, I do. I just refuse to promise to live with him forever. Being defacto has all the same benefits as marriage, just without the paper and fancy party.

I believe that marriage is a personal & religious issue and should not be of governmental concern.
That being said, if two people decide to get married, it should be a lifelong commitment.

hrm. i dont believe in the need for relationships which probably also means i dont believe in the necessity to be stuck with one for the rest of your life either.

speaking from an open mind- no past issues involved, i dont see why one needs a relationship either. officially, that is.

Might as well tell someone, "You're good enough to screw but not good enough to marry."
