Hey, Im wondering if anyone knows any good artists, possibly low key, none mainstream music? I really cant stand the sh** thats played on the radio. I listen to the Beatles...Ben Harper, ben folds, the BOB MARLEY haha damien marleys real good too...i saw him at a show with ben harper. such a great night, anyways. john mayer is surprisingly very innovative....simon n garfunkel, sublime the who....ect. o eminem, tupac! cant forget my gangsta side lol. im really open to any genre it just has to be music from the heart you know? ANyways lemme know if you know anything thats struck you and made you think =)

Ben Harper is great! I love Bob Marley too ... did you listen to Damian Marley?? He has pretty good songs too. If you like r'n'b I would recommend Maxwell and Dru Hill. I also like few songs by Heather Headley (In My Mind is one of my fav). If you're more into alt rock then I would recommend a group called TRAPT ... I aboslutely love them ... this is one of those groups that writes deep lyrics. Hoobastank, Splender are great bands but they also fall under alt. rock.

I would try listening to Coldplay's music. It's influenced by the Beatles and Simon and Garfunkel I reckon, and it's not really mainstream, like i believe these guys are actually musicians.
In Australia we also have a group called the 'John Butler Trio' who are pretty good as well.

Yeah... For rock there is 3rd strike, umm Atreyu isn't really main stream...for hard core punk rock there is Hed PE (also known as Hed planet earth) for rap an underground artist is Immortal Technique... have fun

cada patton is interesting, tom waits, muse (their earlier stuff) peeping tom, adrian belew (it's adrian belew of king crimson, les claypool of primus and danny carey of tool).
