Took it out of the box yesterday, plugged it in, and everything worked beautifully. Today, I plugged it in (not sure if battery is charged all the way yet) and it did not come on. Nothing. Unplugged, waited, tried another outlet...still- nothing--dead. Then, took the battery off and put it back on and , yep, nothing. Moments later, out of sheer frustration, I took the battery out again and slammed it back in. And, it came on. What could have happened here and should I take this thing back before it happens again?! It is a Toshiba Satellite. Please help!

Sounds like a poor internal connection to the power. If it still didn't work when it was plugged in the wall, the problem is obviously not the battery. I would wait to see if it happens again. Of course, back up everything you need in case it does happen again and you can't get it back up. If it happens, send it in for the warranty. Toshiba's are usually pretty good, so you may have gotten the one bad one in the batch.

That's odd. I wish I could tell you what the deal with it is but I can say that there was a recall on the batteries. They sent me a new one for free after I bought my Toshiba. I guess some of the batteries were defective. Mine worked fine but I traded it in anyways just to be sure. Just go to there website, download a program to see if you battery is one of the recalled ones. This program automatically checks it for you and if it comes up as one of the recalled batteries then all you have to do is give them your name and address and they send it for free. I got mine wicked quick, 3 days after I ordered it.

I wouldn't chance it, most places, if you have bought it really recently, and you exchange it for the same model are pretty good about exchanging it for you. If you don't and the problem comes back you will kick yourself for not doing it now. This could be a smaller part of a bigger problem, definitely wouldn't sit on it, I've heard too many people tell me similar stories, then when its out of warranty they're SOL
