There are girls-only day schools and girls-only boarding schools, just like there are coed day schools and coed boarding schools. There are many excellent and extremely competitive all-girls day schools, such as Brearly in NYC, National Cathedral School in Washington, and Hockaday in Texas. These are private schools, but the students do no board. There are also several very academically notable boarding schools for girls--examples include Miss Porter's School, Emma Willard School, and Chatham Hall.

That I am aware of there are no boarding schools that include both sexs..

Boarding School! OMG don't even wonder that much about it... There are worse places.. think of it going away for college.. and you get to come home for the HOLIDAYS!

no, some are just private, but you still commute from home to school, not necessarily live there
