I noticed that when a character gets like a scratch, a pool of blood flood out. What's up with that? why the goreness? Like in FullMetal Alchemist, when King Bradley (Fuhrer) stabs Marta to death inside Al's body, it was like a massacre. Or like in Kill Bii, when O-ren the little girl killed that Yakuza guy and his teeth pop out, blood just fell out of his mouth like a waterfall. We all know that doesn't have in real-life , so why is blood always exaggerate?

Maybe because of these reasons:
They want some to be scared or creeped out..
They want some to see how good their animation techniques are...
or...
They want some to feel the action or thrill that makes your heart beat so fazzzzt!!!

The only shows i seen with much exaggeration of blood would be Elfen Lied, Gantz, Fist Of The North Star, and Hellsing Ultimate. When you make the example of Marta getting stabbed. I think it would be quite common that when you get stabbed like that. Its going to be very bloody. Those types of blood action in my opinion arent that exagerated. Unless of course if youre slashed clean right in the jugular. Most animes with scenes like that would make the blood splurt more farther. I believe that much.
Also, to add this in. There are animes that really under exaggerate messy blood scenes. Case in point: Noir. Theres been a scene where a guy got slashed in the neck, but yet no blood splurted out.

I watch a lot of anime shows including Full Metal Alchemist. I guess to make it look interesting. Like it hurt a lot.

Because pretty boys look sexier when there covered in blood...they look even sexier when they lick it off of a: sword, fingers, enemies cheek. Blood makes anime baddies look like anime hotties.

Everything is exaggerated in anime. Tears, Laughter, Blood, Emotions, almost everything. I guess it's more dramatic that way.

dont know but i remember a show called Elfen Lied which i recommend but it had way too much blood
