I am concerned about the health and well being of the only planet I have ever really had close personal contact with.

It is my opinion that everybody would be happier and better off if the human population was a great deal less.

The curent population ,in my opinion, can NOT be sustained much less expanded.

When I or other people talk about measures to control the population like limiting the size of a family or making certain requirements to having more than one or two children or providing sex education to prevent unwanted pregnacies excetera excetera excetera we are labeled some undesirable entity.

The mear mention of anything relating to any form of population control could get us banished from school , church or public service jobs.

In the 60's here in the USA there was a TV show called 'Star Trek' . In it one of the lead charators was from a planet Vulcan in which the population came to realise that over population was a a major factor in many of there social ills.

Duh!

Overpopulation is the elephant in the living room that no one's talking about. It's one of the biggest global threats. I think people avoid the subject because it involves birth control education, including abortion.

The Bush administration has instituted the Global Gag Rule, which restricts foreign non-governmental organizations that receive money from the USAID's family planning program from using their OWN non-U.S. money to
-provide safe abortion services
-impart any information about abortion
-engage in public information services about abortion

Bush says this is because he doesn't want US money paying for overseas abortions. But Federal law has barred the use of US fund for abortions since 1973.

Here's a good site with lots of info:

It depends on the type of population control you're talking about. Genocide has been practiced for nearly all of history by tyrants. As far as limitng family size, there have been attempts. Remeber in the 60's and 70's people were encouraged to have "2.3" children. But because raising a family is still a personal choice, most people feel if you have the money, time and energy to raise children , raise away! . China, with its huge population, realized they were in a crisis with the amount of food production they have several decades ago, and they launched a massive propaganda campagin to limit family size. They went so far as to encourage abortions if a couple got pregant a second time. Not too popular. Also , un-educated people in 3rd world countries were actually offered portable radios to have vasectomies performed! Imagine the ruckus the ACLU would make over that now? Education.....and access to birth control, could make a huge differeance!

we tried zero population growth in the 70s on the first earth day, you see how far that got. i think there are so many more gays these days because mother nature is trying to figure a way to control population too. religions think they need to multiply to try to out number the other faiths, well we wiccans dont really care about that, but at least i only had one child and i gave her all my time and attention.
