The educated religious right zealots, ignorant religious left zealots, the America hating rest-of-the-world first left or the self-serving capitalist right?

Saying that only Americans consider the US to be the greatest country is laughable...very funny, thanks for the laugh.

It's definitely the America-hating rest-of-the-world-first left. And a very close second is the self-serving liberal-left America-hating judiciary.

While I don't agree with many things to the "right," I truly believe that the left would turn this country into a socialist dungheap if they were back in power. They are much more liberal now than even in the Clinton days, and that's saying alot.

We need to take care of our own before taking care of others. We need to employ Americans, not ship our jobs overseas in the name of "progress." We need to secure our borders before worrying about gay marriage. The left seeks to distract us from the important issues facing our country by barraging us with emotional issues that make us "feel" bad.

As others point out, the only people who believe America is the greatest country in the world are some Americans.
The Bush administration has ensured that China will eclipse America economically sooner than had been the case. And military power always follows economic power.
In a more immediate sense, the biggest threat to US power is the shiites of Iran. There does not now seem much likelihood that a war between Israel & the US v Iran can be averted. If it will take, on the most optimistic assessement, 6 years for the USA to subdue 18 million fractious Iraqis, how long will it take to do the same to 70 million Shiites? And what will the cost to Israel and the USA be, if it can be done at all?

First of all the religious right would like the country modeled after there belief in god, which rules out evolution, sex education, and a general understanding of the beliefs and reasons for those beliefs held by other sectors of the world. If the "educated" religious zealots had held control through history we should still think the sun rotates around the earth, the world is flat, and square objects don't float. I really have never seen a religious leftist, guess I just have to claim ignorance on that one. As for the American hating rest-of-the-world, well they are only a threat because the self-serving capitalist right has moved all of our base jobs which create the foundation of our economy over there to make an extra buck. As for any other threat they pose, the typical terrorist, who comes from America also, pose a threat to anyone. There tactics are to cause terror in any way possible, even by killing indiscriminately. Of course the agenda of scaring the world into doing your bidding seems to go right along with our current administrations agenda, even if they don't directly attack its citizens

China and Saudi Arabia could both withdraw their money from the US and collapse the economy. Saudi Arabia and especially Canada could stop selling oil to the US which would also collapse the economy and within months cause the military to not be able to keep many tanks, jets, ships etc running because of the fuel shortages (they use a huge amount). At least they will still have nuclear subs as a deterent In terms of literally destroying the country in a war, Russia has by far the most nuclear weapons that can reach the U.S.

In order to address this question, you first have to define what makes America the greatest country in the world. For me, what makes America the greatest country in the world is the ideology of promoting the greatest personal freedoms possible and still live in peace. That said, the greatest threat to America's standing as the 'greatest country in the world' is the segment who's agenda is stated as reducing those personal freedoms the most. The segment that wants to increase taxes, take personal responsibilities and reassign them to the government, move authority from elected officials to unelected and unaccountable officials like judges, hypocritically claim the agenda of tolerance while simultaneously push intolerance of religion and free speech, enforce curriculum in schools that have nothing to do with education, limit or eliminate school choice, ignore results of their programs and base their code of conduct on what makes them feel good, revisit history with current agenda, etc., etc.,

I have never heard of the religious right referred to as "educated" .. nor have I ever heard of the "ignorant religious left" .... is there a religious left? If there is, it is news to all. Who are these leftist bible people? LOL

The biggest threat to America is not having a balanced government. Too much right. Too much left. Its not fair to everyone that seeks equal opportunity, treatment and justice.

America is militarily and economically the most powerful nation in the world. Unless the left wing of the country takes control, it will likely stay that way. However if the left takes over, they view our culture as inferior to Europe, our civilization as something to be scorned rather than exported, and they secretly look down their nose at the military.

They think the average person is too stupid to make life's decisions for themselves, so they will "help" these people by removing these decisions from their control, what they learn in school, where they send their kids to school, how they manage healthcare for examples.

America isn't the greatest country in the world, it merely has the most military power but not enough to defeat the IRaqis and the Afghans
